Professional Wexford boxing is on the rise…
There are currently three professional boxers from Wexford, including Dean Walsh, David Kennedy, and Dean Gonzalez-Furlong.
David Kennedy went 3-0 on Saturday night in Ballybofey with a dominant points decision over his opponent, while Dean Walsh lost out in October via a split decision to Dublin’s Daniel O’Sullivan.
The busiest out of the three Wexford boxers, however, is Dean Gonzalez-Furlong.
Wexford man Furlong, who is now based in Spain, has pencilled in a new professional boxing fight date where he’ll be looking to go 8-0.
Furlong has been dubbed the poster-boy for the event and he will headline the card which will feature both amateur and professional fights.
The event will take place on April 18th 2026 in Elche, Spain.
Furlong’s oppoenent has not been revealed yet, but will be in due course.
