St Patrick’s Day is less than two weeks away and communities acorss Ireland — and indeed the world — are putting their final touches on their Paddy’s Day plans…
On Tuesday, it was revealed that Australian politician, Major Brad Bunting, would be the Grand Marshal for the Enniscorthy St Patrick’s Day Parade.
However, those plans have since changed, and neither Major Brad Bunting or his delegation from New South Wales in Australia will be attending the Enniscorthy Parade anymore.
Major Brad Bunting is an Australian local government leader who serves as the Mayor of Blacktown City in New South Wales. He was first elected to Blacktown City Council in 2016, later becoming Deputy Mayor in 2022 and Mayor in 2024.
Bunting is known for his strong focus on community development, including improving local infrastructure such as parks, libraries, sporting facilities and community hubs. He is also a supporter of grassroots sport and youth participation, having long been involved in local athletics, cricket and soccer organisations.
However, just one day after it was announced, organisers of the Enniscorthy St Patrick’s Day Parade confirmed that they will no longer be in attendance.
This is due to the tension and situation in Dubai regarding flights and safety:
“Due to the situation in Dubai, Major Brad Bunting and the Blacktown delegation have cancelled their trip to Enniscorthy,” the post reads.
Organisers of the Enniscorthy St Patrick’s Day Parade are set to announce a new Grand Marshal soon.
