Contagious virus sees visitor restrictions in place at Wexford General Hospital

Wexford General Hospital is now implementing visitor restrictions on Mary’s Ward to reduce the spread of Norovirus…

Visiting will be on compassionate grounds only, which will be assessed by the Ward Manager. Designated visitors will be required to wear a mask while in wards.

These measures are vital to avoid spreading Norovirus among the patients, visitors and staff and the hospital would like to thank the public for their co-operation and understanding at this time.

The HSE told Wexford Weeklt that “noroviruses are very contagious and can spread easily from person to person and is one of the most common causes of gastroenteritis (stomach bugs).”
