Eight beaches and marinas in County Wexford awarded Blue Flag status

The Blue Flag is one of the world’s most recognised environmental awards for beaches and marinas….

Established in France in 1985 and launched across Europe in 1987, the programme is now operated internationally by the Foundation for Environmental Education (FEE).

To achieve Blue Flag status, locations must meet strict standards in areas such as water quality, environmental management, safety, accessibility and public information.

The award is seen as a mark of excellence, highlighting destinations that are clean, safe and environmentally sustainable for both visitors and local communities.
