The hunt for the new Wexford Senior hurling manager continues…
The Wexford Senior hurling team are looking for a new manager after Keith Rossiter, who was at the helm for three years, opted not to continue in the role.
There were talks about Henry Shefflin being a potential candidate for the vacant Wexford role, however, Kilkenny GAA confirmed on Monday evening that Shefflin has been appointed as the new Kilkenny Senior hurling boss.
Another person who was in the running for the vacant Kilkenny role after Derek Lyng stepped away was Brian Dowling.
Dowling’s name was also mentioned as a potential replacement for Keith Rossiter, however, after not being successful with Kilkenny GAA, it has been confirmed that Dowling will remain in charge of the Kildare Senior hurling team.
Not all is lost from a Wexford perspective though. Names such as Declan Ruth, Joe Fortune, JJ Doyle, Peter Queally, Derek McGrath, Jason Ryan and Tom Mulally all seem to be potential candidates in the mix for the vacant role.
Along with the Wexford County Board, a sub-committee has been set up to find the perfect man to replace Keith Rossiter. Adrian Fenlon – part of the Hurling Advisory Committee – will be joined by John Kenny (Co. Chairman, Horeswood), Paul Morris (Ferns St. Aidan’s), Aidan O’Leary (Shelmaliers) and Kevin Doyle (St. Patrick’s) in their deliberations.
It’s believed that the new Wexford Senior hurling manager will be announced within the week, allowing the individual to watch the remainging games of the Wexford Senior hurling championship. Two rounds of the Wexford Senior hurling championship have already been played, but we’re moving into two weeks of the Wexford Senior football championship now.
