Public event on qauality of Wexford train services to be held

A rail advocay group, South East on Track, is pleased to participate in an upcoming public event, ‘Keep Wexford on Track’….

This event aims to reinvigorate the conversation about the standard of rail provision in Wexford Town. Wexford Town, according to Iarnród Éireann’s own figures, is the busiest station, in the region, south of Greystones. Yet, we are chronically underserved compared to other towns of our size. Recent media coverage has highlighted overcrowding issues on the Dublin-Rosslare service and passengers are crying out for an increase in services and capacity on the line.

The event will take place at 19:30 on September 3^rd in Kinfolk, Eclectic Avenue, Wexford Town.

Speakers at the event include South East on Track, Cllr Leonard Kelly, and representatives from youth and community groups in Wexford Town.

Conversations on the evening will include a focus on the type of train used on the Rosslare-Dublin services, areas where capacity can be improved and services extended, the price of shorter journey tickets for travel within County Wexford, and the provision of food and beverage services.

“But we all want to hear from you on any topic related to rail travel in County Wexford and the greater south-eastern region.”

“The event will encourage public participation in the conversation, as we want to hear from all who use or wish to use the service. We think that a few small changes would vastly improve our service and open up rail travel to and from Wexford Town to a wider cohort of passengers.”

“At a moment in time where uncertainty around fuel prices persists, we want to encourage more people to make the switch to public transport.,” the group said.
