Wexford’s Dean ‘Speedy’ Gonzalez Furlong went 10-0 in the professional boxing ranks last night…
Boxing on the Conlan Sport ‘Unleashed’ card, Wexford boxer Dean Furlong secured a 60-54 points win over Benito Sanchez Garcia to move to 10-0.
The 23 year old Wexford native defeated his Mexican opponent by unanimous decision after the six-round fight at Ulster Hall in Belfast.
Sanchez, a Mexican fighter, proved to be a worthy and durably opponent, with over 17 wins (24 losses) on his record despite being a journeyman in the sport.
However, while donning the purple and gold, the Wexford’s man hand was raised after a professional performance. The Wexford man was handed a scare at the end of Round 1, but he recovered very quickly — dominating Round 2 and all the remaining rounds.
With 10 wins and zero losses on his record, the Wexford man could be eyeing up a domestic title shot in the near future.
The fight was streamed on TG4 and it can be watched below from the 55th minute mark.
