A Wexford Band Have Written A New Song Dedicated To Wexford GAA

Wexford band Na Buachaillí consisting of Dean Malone, Lezlee Malone, Eddie Cullen and Shane Walsh have created a new and original Wexford GAA song.

The song is dedicated to the Wexford inter-county teams, to all the passionate supporters of Wexford hurling and football and naturally, is called ‘The Purple and the Gold’.

Lyrics:

A battle cry rang out today upon the Wexford air
From the summit of Mount Leinster it travelled pure and clear
Words rang out that lingered
Brave and true and bold
Follow Follow Follow
The Purple and the Gold
Follow Follow Follow
The Purple and the Gold
Follow Follow Follow
The Purple and the Gold

A figure stood there proudly upon that mountain fair
Gazing at his county and all who choose to dare
Again he roared that battle cry
Or so I have been told
Follow Follow Follow
The Purple and the Gold x2

A warrior before us, his face it showed no fear
Already tasting victory within the serpent’s lair
His passion shining brightly
The man to break the mould
Follow Follow Follow
The Purple and the Gold x2

The Slaney river wanders through all our townlands near
Listen to her waters and a story you will hear
If she could shed speak these words
While entering the fold
Follow Follow Follow
The Purple and the Gold x2

The Cusack she is ready to hear the Wexford cheer
The Hogan and the Davin they stand without a peer
The Hill and all her glory
What romance to uphold
Follow Follow Follow
The Purple and the Gold
Follow Follow Follow
The Purple and the Gold x2

To an air sang by Michéal Doyle and dedicated to Emma Hyland.
