Early Stages: Who’s Called Into The Wexford Senior Panel & Who’s Gone?

All the juicy details we love to read are being spilled now. Who’s in, who’s out? What’s new?

Captain:
Michael Furlong (Adamstown)

Vice-Captain:
Conor Carty (Castletown)

Who’s called into the panel?
After an outstanding club campaign, Castletown’s Johnatan Bealin has been called up into Paul McLoughlin’s Wexford Senior set-up.

Michael O’Regan is no longer part of Davy Fitzgerald’s plans with the Senior hurlers so he will return to the footballers. Likewise, Colm Kehoe’s time with the Senior hurlers also comes to an end, but McLoughlin has not confirmed whether he will, or will not, return to the footballers as of yet.

Sean Barden of Adamstown received a call-up, while former Wexford footballers Kevin O’Grady (St James) and Tom Byrne (Kilmore) have also accepted invites to re-join the panel.

Kilanerin duo Niall Hughes and Conor Devitt will also feature in McLoughlin’s 2019 plans after some outstanding performances to lead their club team to the county final this year.

Who’s left the panel?
Unfortunately, James Stafford and Barry O’Gorman have opted out of the Senior panel, while Mark and Jim Rossiter are recovering from knee injuries and a date of their return is unknown.

Question marks remain over Daithí Waters and Brian Malone, but McLoughlin is hopeful that there’s at least another year left in the two Wexford football stalwarts.
