Wexford Manager Davy Fitzgerald Could Have A Very Busy November

Davy Fitzgerald’s celebrity status continues to rise…

He is one of the most talked about GAA managers of all time – if not the most talked about manager – and the Banner man continues to find himself printed across headlines on what seems like a weekly basis.

But the Clare native’s managerial record is not to be undermined, and lately, it’s his managerial successes that ensures the plastering of his name across our newspapers and phone screens. This year, Fitzgerald guided the Wexford Senior Hurlers to their first Leinster Championship since 2004.

In October, Fitzgerald then oversaw his club team Sixmilebridge emerge victorious in the Clare Senior Hurling Championship.

Managing the Wexford Senior hurlers and playing a central role in Sixmilebridge’s success, it’s clear that he’s a busy man.

After winning the Senior Club championship in Clare, Fitzgerald’s Sixmilebridge now enter the Munster club quarter-final stages. Their focus now turns to Waterford’s Ballygunner, which will take place on Novmeber 3rd.

A win against the Waterford champs would see Fitzgerald’s Sixmilebridge in a Munster semi-final against Limerick’s Patrickswell the week after on November 10th.

If successful, the Munster Club hurling final against either the Tipperary champions or Cork champions Glen Rovers is due to take place on November 24th.

Worth noting however, is that Wexford’s first match of the Super 11’s Hurling Classic in New York is due to take place on November 16th.

It has the potential to be a busy month for Fitzgerald, but if anyone can, Davy Fitz can.
