St Martins Rory O’Connor Could Still Play Wexford Senior Hurling Final

St Martins are through to the county hurling final, where they’ll face St Annes in a derby decider at Innovate Wexford Park…

In the first of the hurling semi-finals at Innovate Wexford Park, St Martins emerged victorious on a scoreline of 2-16 to 1-15 over Ferns St Aidans.

Unfortunately for the Martins though, Wexford inter-county hurler and young hurler of the year nominee Rory O’Connor received a straight red in their semi-final clash.

Irish television broadcaster TG4 captured footage of the two semi-final red cards:

According to The HoganStand, St Martins are currently going through an appeal process to rescind O’Connor’s red card.

Last year, Naomh Eanna hurler and inter-county star Cathal Dunbar was set to miss Naomh Eanna’s first ever county final.

However, after a lengty appeal process which was dragged to the end, Dunbar was allowed to feature in the game, where he scored 0-04 from play. Following Naomh Eanna’s county final success, Dunbar then had to sit out in the Leinster Championship, as the referee clarified his decision to the DRA.

O’Connor and St Martins will be hoping for a similar result with their appeal.
