[Report] Wexford Hurlers Likely To Receive Bye To 2020’s Leinster Semi-Final

Well, Wexford supporters wouldn’t say no to this anyway..

Davy Fitzgerald’s Wexford Senior hurling side are likely to receive a bye straight into the Leinster Senior hurling semi-final for the upcoming 2020 Leinster championship campaign.

Both Wexford and Kilkenny will likely receive a bye as both of them competed in the Leinster final in 2019. Originally, both teams would partake in a group, but due to the Coronavirus outbreak, the GAA’s fixture schedule has been greatly impacted.

Wexford were victorious in that game against Brian Cody’s Cats, but it remains unclear whether the teams will be on opposite sides of the draw.

Respected GAA journalist John Fogarty understands that just one team took issue with the proposal, believing it to be unfair.

The GAA are set to confirm their plans to the public on Friday. A press conference will be held tomorrow morning confirming the GAA’s revised plans for this years hurling and football championships.

Just a few weeks ago, it was likely that the GAA championship wouldn’t be going ahead due to the outbreak of the coroanvirus.
