Wexford Football Is Cancelled For The 2020-21 Season

It’s bad news for footballers across the county…

In a statement released to media today, the Wexford Football League have confirmed the cancellation of their 2020-2021 season.

“Due to ongoing level five Covid restrictions, the Wexford Football League has cancelled the regular 2020-2021 football season. We want to thank all clubs for their patience and understanding at this most difficult time for everyone involved in the game, but would urge all to continue following the guidelines that are currently in place.”

“When restrictions are eased back to level two, the Wexford League will look at all their options for getting clubs back playing competitive games as soon as possible and are looking into the possibility of running some form of competition this summer if restrictions allow, until then please stay safe and well,” the statement read.

It’s bad news for footballers throughout the county who were looking forward to returning to some sort of action, given the fact that both the restrictions have eased and Covid-19 cases have gradually decreased recently.
