Bookies Release Odds For Rapps’ Outing In Leinster Club Championship

The Wexford club hurling champions are out in action on the weekend…

The Rapparees were crowned victorious in the Wexford Senior hurling championship for 2021. It was a day to remember for the Enniscorthy club, who were crowned champions for the first time in 43 years.

Now, their attention turns to the Leinster Senior Hurling Club championship, which takes place this weekend in O’Moore Park.

The Rapparees will be facing the 2020 and 2021 Laois Senior hurling champions, Clough-Ballacolla, in the quarter-final on Saturday 27th November, with the throw-in scheduled for 5:30pm.

Ahead of the highly-anticipated outing for the Enniscorthy club, the major Irish bookmakers including Bet365 and Bwin sports, have released their betting odds for the clash.

There’s a real sense of anticipation building for this clash after the Rapps’ convincing win over St Annes in the Wexford Senior Hurling final. That day, they racked up an impressive scoreline, hitting 6-18 against a good St Annes side.

They looked dominant throughout, and with inter-county players of the calibre of Kevin Foley, Liam Ryan, and the likes Ricky Fox and Alan Tobin in attack, the Rapparees will quietly fancy their chances in this competition.

The bookies have the Rapparees as slight favourites priced at 10/11, while their opponents Clough-Ballacolla can currently be secured at a price of 11/10. For those who believe this will be a close encounter, a draw can be secured at 8/1.

Should the Rapparees defeat the Laois hurling champions, they’ll face either the Dublin or the Westmeath champions in the Leinster Club hurling championship semi-final.

A win in the semi-final would see the Rapps in a Leinster hurling final showdown scheduled to take place in Croke Park just one week before Christmas.

Although the major Irish bookmakers like BoyleSports and Betway Sports may be tipping the Rapps to come away with the win, it’s worth noting that the bookies have been wrong before too.

Make sure to keep a close eye on Wexford Weekly as the clash comes closer. We’ll have the team-sheets on the day and we’ll be listening out for potential injuries and positional changes.
