Galway Manager Henry Shefflin Relishing Upcoming Wexford Clash

Galway hurling manager Henry Shefflin is looking forward to this weekend’s clash against Wexford…

There’s a lot of excitement building ahead of the opening round of the Leinster Championship.

Similar to Wexford, Galway will be training on Tuesday and Thursday in preparation of the opening round of the Championship.

“We definitely have to be winning our home games. To win your first game is very important as it sets you up well. There’s a bit of pressure, but we’re looking forward to it.”

“Our focus is very much on Wexford next Saturday in Pearse Stadium. It’s going to be very tight. Wexford will come with everything; they’ll have all their bodies on the field and they’ll be really targeting this game.”

“We’ve to be ready – but we’ve to focus on our own performance,” Shefflin told Galway Bay FM.

Despite Shefflin’s comments to Galway Bay FM, Wexford are likely to be without Damien Reck and Matthew O’Hanlon according to a report in this week’s Wexford People.

Shefflin highlighted that preparations are going well, but they will be without St Thomas’ clubman David Burke following an ACL injury in March.

“We don’t have that much of an injury list leading into the list. A couple of lads are making their recoveries and getting game time in training matches.”

Wexford take on Galway this Saturday at 4:30pm in Pearse Stadium, Galway. For those not travelling to the game, there will be a pay-per-view stream available.
