Wexford musician living abroad to play in hometown for the first time in nearly seven years

Wexford musician Chris Berry has been living in Edinburgh since 2016 but is soon to return home for a very special gig…

A born and bred Wexford musician is soon to return to his hometown for a very special event; his first Wexford gig in almost seven years.

The talented Chris Berry will be playing in T Morris Bar, Wexford Town on August 16th as part of a multi-event tour that includes stops in Ireland and Scotland.

In a post to his Facebook page, Berry revealed the significance of him playing in T Morris Bar and how it all comes down to the bar’s manager, James Ryan.

‘James Ryan gave me one of my first live gigs way back when I was only 17 years old so it is fitting that I get to play in James’ bar again for the first one back in so long. Really looking forward to this so hopefully I will see a lot of you there! It’s been too long…’

Berry emigrated from Wexford to Edinburgh in 2016. He will no doubt be returning to Wexford a changed man and performer. His music career has grown considerably since then; as lead singer of the band Aurora Blues, he played at festivals alongside acts such as the Snuts, the Lightning Seeds, Razorlight, Amy McDonald and the Kaiser Chiefs. Berry insists that he wouldn’t be where he was today without Craig McMorrow who runs McMusic Agency in Edinburgh.

However, despite his success abroad, Berry still holds great affection for his beloved hometown. So much so that, last year, he penned a tribute to Wexford called ‘No Place Like Home’. It was released as a single early last year on all major streaming platforms. He has since released a second single called ‘11:11’ which you can listen to here.

Mark your calendars for August 16th as this one-of-a-kind gig is not one to miss!
