Candidate who met with Wexford GAA rules himself out of contention for Wexford managerial job

There’s no white smoke yet as Wexford are still on the lookout for a new Wexford Senior hurling manager…

Last week, the Irish Independent reported that former Wexford hurler, and u-20 Wexford hurling manager for the previous two seasons, Keith Rossiter, was in pole position to secure the role.

However, a new report today from the Irish Examiner states that Wexford GAA were also looking at former Waterford hurling manager, Derek McGrath.

Despite meeting with Wexford GAA officials, McGrath has since ruled himself out of contention for the still-vacant role.

It is believed that the primary reason that he has ruled himself out of contention is that the Wexford GAA committee had mandated McGrath to come back with a full backroom team, prior to any appointment.

McGrath has been involved with the Faythe Harriers Senior hurling team in a coaching capacity in recent years and he was over the Waterford Senior hurling team from 2013 to 2018.
