Wexford FC seal partnership with Reading Football Club

Wexford FC have signed an official partnership with Reading FC…

A contingent from Reading FC last weekend at the Talbot Hotel Wexford, and both clubs confirmed the partnership this afternoon (Monday) after months of positive discussions.

Reading FC play in League One in England.

Speaking on the deal, a spokesperson for Reading stated:

“We are pleased to announce that Wexford FC have officially partnered with our Category One Academy,” they said.

The partnership is an excellent move forward for Wexford FC, who will play Cob on Tuesday evening in the first play-off, a game which could see them on track for promotion to Ireland’s Premier Division.

Mark Ross, who acts as the Head of Academy for Wexford FC, said:

“We worked hard behind the scenes, and this will be a fantastic partnership for local players, both male and female. There will be many elements to this partnership! Including our coaches’ learning from professional development coaches at Reading, also community programme share,” he said.

Speaking on the new partnership, Wexford FC stated:

“Going forward, we hope to learn from Reading’s extensive Football and Social Responsibility (FSR) programmes as well as assistance with coaching and player development.

We are grateful to all at Reading FC who have made this possible and look forward to a great relationship between the two clubs in future!

We express our gratitude also for the long time friendship between Gary Dempsey and Noel Hunt that has brought the two clubs together, born from playing together at Waterford, Ireland U21s, and Dunfermline.”
