Wexford club hurling player and Young hurler of the year revealed for 2023 season

The Wexford Club hurling player of the year and the young player of the year recipients were revealed today…

The Oylegate duo of Seamus Casey and Shane Reck were nominated, while Naomh Eanna’s Charlie McGuckin was also nominated for the individual accolade.

Meanwhile, the Young Hurler of the year nominations included Darragh Kehoe of Cloughbawn, Cian O’Tuama of Gorey, and Eoin Whelan from Fethard.

At a wet New Year’s Day challenge game in Gorey this afternoon between the Wexford Club Team of the Year versus a selection of Keith Rossiter’s Senior footballers, the awards were handed out.

Charlie McGuckin from the Naomh Eanna club was crowned the Glen Fuels Wexford Hurler of the Year. Meanwhile, Cian O’Tuama, also of Naomh Eanna, awarded with the Young Player of the Year award.

Both McGuckin and O’Tuama were instrumental for Naomh Eanna throughout the season, helping to secure the club’s second ever Wexford Senior Hurling title.

In related news, the Wexford club footballer of the year and the young footballer of the year were revealed recently following a challenge match at Hollymount.
