
Switcher.ie’s new study reveals Wexford in top 5 best towns for work-life balance 2024
The Work-Life Balance Act 2023 was introduced by the government last year, so ahead of the new Code of Practice giving employees new rights, Switcher has revealed the best towns and cities for the perfect work-life balance.
Wexford is the fourth best town for work-life balance. Decent property prices, great shopping, transport networks and local services make Wexford a superb location to strike the perfect work-life balance.
It’s is also the second-best town to shop and eat in, with a range of cafes and supermarkets.
Enniscorthy also came in eleventh place, while Gorey came in thirteenth place, beating 37 other towns which made our list.

Their research compared essentials like broadband speeds, mobile coverage, and access to local amenities like primary schools, GP surgeries, and major supermarkets. They also looked at factors important for well-being, like green spaces, leisure facilities and cafes, house prices, commuting and crime rate.
With all this information, they then created a Work-Life Balance Index to rank the best and worst places to juggle work, family and pleasure.

Longford was the cheapest town, and Newbridge was the safest.
Wexford, Athlone and Wicklow are top spots to catch up over coffee or pop out to the shops.
New research by Switcher.ie has revealed the best Irish towns and cities for work-life balance. The study is based on data like access to local amenities like primary schools, major supermarkets and leisure centres, services like broadband speed and mobile coverage, proximity to green spaces and transport routes, plus house prices and crime rates.
New legislation which gives employees the right to request remote work carer’s leave and other flexible arrangements is expected by the end of the year. With 32% working from home at least one day a week during 2022, Ireland’s towns and local economies could also enjoy the benefits of an increasingly flexible workforce.
