Keith Rossiter provides injury update on various Wexford hurlers

Wexford took on Cork last weekend, but it was the Rebels who emerged victorious to end Keith Rossiter’s unbeaten run with Wexford…

Cork dominated the game, winning on a score-line of 3-21 to 1-16.

It was a difficult game for Wexford who simply struggled to get going and looked off the pace throughout the match.

Keith Rossiter’s team has been marred by injuries since the start of the campaign.

Injuries to key and experienced players such as Lee Chin, Conor McDonald, Rory O’Connor, Liam OgMcGovern, Liam Ryan, Conor Devitt, Oisín Foley, Dee O’Keeffe, Jack O’Connor has not helped Rossiter with his preparation.

While it did allow him to blood new talent, at Senior level there is always a need for a mix between new talent and experienced players.

One positive from last weekend’s game against Cork was the returning faces: both Conor McDonald and Liam Óg McGovern featured for Wexford, coming off the bench in the second-half.

However, there are still a number of key injuries, but the Wexford Senior hurling manager is hopeful that they will return for the Championship.

“Liam Ryan, Rory O’Connor, Conor Devitt, Lee Chin, you’d be hoping to see a lot of them (come championship). Jack O’Connor, as well, shouldn’t be too far off. We have a busy five weeks. Hopefully the injury ward will lessen as we go,” Rossiter said.

Wexford’s first game in the Championship is a crucial one. They will take on Dublin (at home) in Wexford Park in just over one month, on Sunday April 21st.
