‘Nothing beats seeing your work in print. Write by the Sea is one of Ireland’s most respected literary festivals and we’re really delighted to be joining the judging panel and to be printing the winning entries.’

Writers are invited to submit their work in any or all of the four categories of competition: Fiction Short Story (max. 2,500 words), Poetry (max. 40 lines), Flash Fiction (max. 700 words) and Memoir/Personal Essay (max. 1000 words).

An independent panel of judges selects one winner from a shortlist in each category. Judging is conducted blind, and the names of the winning writers are only revealed once judging is complete.

‘We are incredibly proud to announce our partnership with The Waxed Lemon,’ said festival chairperson Sasha Wilson. ‘The calibre of work the competition attracts is exceptional and deserves a wide readership. We really wanted to be able to offer the winners a publication credit in addition to the generous cash prize.’
