Timed run and walk to take place in scenic area of Wexford

The sun’s coming out again and that only means one thing. Irish people are starting to flock outdoors…

A school fundraiser will be taking place for Clonroche National School. Monies raised from the fundraiser will go towards the development of a sensory playground at their school.

Speaking to Wexford Weekly, Charlene Travers, who is a member of the Clonroche NS Parent’s association said:

“The idea of a sensory playground will benefit kids of all different abilities in our school. It will help them with coordination balance along with so much more,” Charlene said.

To help raise funds, a professionally-timed walk or run will take place, with both 5km and 8km options available for lifestyle and fitness enthusiasts.

“This is our main school fundraiser every year, but this year. We are trying to get as many people as possible to sign up online and help us spread the word,” Charlene told Wexford Weekly about the plan.

The route will start at Cloughbawn GAA Club. At the start of the route in the Castleboro townsland, both runners and walkers will be able to appreciate the views of the historic Castleboro House in the distance.

The walk/run will take place on June 9th at 11am.

For more information or to sign up for the run, you can purchase tickets online. Tickets cots 15 euro for adults, 12 euro for students, while there are also other packages available.
