Wexford’s Lee Chin hails the inclusion of youngsters on Wexford Senior hurling panel

The Wexford Senior hurlers will be out in action again this weekend…

Keith Rossiter’s Wexford Senior hurling side will take on Laois in a preliminary All-Ireland quarter-final this Saturday in O’Moore Park, Laois.

One of Wexford’s key performers this year has been their captain, Lee Chin.

Speaking at the launch of the All-Ireland Championship, Chin heaped praised onto the youngsters who have staked a claim on Keith Rossiter’s team and panel.

He noted that they have brought an enthusiasm and an energy about them which the older players, like Chin, are feeding off:

“It’s just one of those years where some things go right for you and that’s just the way it is. I’m enjoying my time with the panel and with Keith. There’s a lot of new faces around and that’s brought a bit of life into me as well.

“As some of the lads you’ve played hurling with through most of your career start to leave the dressing-room each year, the new lads that then come in are like a breath of fresh air at times and give you a new bit of energy and I’m getting a bounce off them at the moment.”

“You could see them coming through from underage and you could tell that they’re great prospects, they have a lot of hurling.”

“I suppose a lot of them are getting their chance last year and this year but mainly this year. They’ve been a real breath of fresh air in terms of what they bring. Even just their mindset, they’re not shy. That’s one great thing about them, they’re characters, and you need that in a dressing-room and they’re really adding to it,” Lee Chin said.

Wexford will take on Laois this weekend. A win against Laois will see them face Clare in an All-Ireland quarter-final. While it’s one game at a time for Wexford, it’s an excellent opportunity for them to progress in the championship.
