Rathnure win sets up Leinster semi-final against County winning neighbours

Rathnure faced Commercials, who are the Dublin Intermediate champions, in the Leinster Club Intermediate quarter-final on Saturday in Bellefield

The Wexford Intermediate Champions enjoyed a seven-point win over the Dublin champions, winning on a score-line of 3-18 to 1-17.

The win against Commercials has now set up a semi-final clash against the Wicklow champions. The Wicklow champions are Bray Emmets, who defeated the Meath champions Ratoath on Saturday.

The semi-finals will be played next week on Saturday November 23rd.

It will be an away clash for Rathnure, and it will take place in a Wicklow venue which is still to be confirmed with a throw-in time pencilled in for 1:30pm.

Bray Emmets are the Wicklow Senior Champions, but they play in the Intermediate grade of the Leinster hurling championship. Along with enjoying a successful spell in the Wicklow championship winning 6-in-a-row of County titles, they reached the Leinster Intermediate Club final last year before losing out to Kilkenny’s Thomastown. They are no stranger to Leinster Intermediate success though, with many of their team winning a Leinster Intermediate title back in 2022.

Perhaps new Rathnure manager, Declan Ruth, may fall on his former inter-county team-mate, Paul Carley, for some tips ahead of the clash. Carley enjoyed a successful spell with Bray Emmets as their manager before stepping down from the role last year.

In the other semi-final, Borris In Ossory Kilcotton of Laois will take on Lisdowney of Kilkenny which will take place at a Laois venue.
