Despite their tag of underdogs heading into the Leinster final, Wexford club side Rathnure came away with silverware…
They defeated Lisdowney of Kilkenny last weekend at Wexford Park, withstanding the gutsy performance from the Kilkenny outfit.
Their Leinster Championship win has now placed them directly into the All-Ireland Intermediate Club hurling semi-final. All four provincial winners have been placed directly into the semi-final stages, with Rathnure being drawn against the Connacht champions.
They will take on Tynagh/Abbey-Duniry (Galway) in their semi-final clash.
The All-Ireland semi-final fixture has since been confirmed by the GAA too. O’Connor Park in Tullamore, Offaly, will play host to the semi-final between the Wexford and Galway Intermediate champions.
It will be on next weekend, Saturday December 14th, with throw-in at 1pm.
In more good news for those not attending the semi-final, the Rathnure vs Tynagh/Abbey-Duniry match will also be live-streamed, and available to watch for free.
It will be live-streamed by Sport TG4 on their YouTube channel. A link will be placed on Wexford Weekly once it becomes available.
On Sunday, the following day, the other All-Ireland Intermediate semi-final will take place. Watergrasshill of Cork will be up against Antrim’s Carey Faughs. This will take place in Páirc Tailteann at 1pm – and it will also be live-streamed by Sport TG4, allowing Wexford club hurling supporters to have a look at Rathnure’s potential All-Ireland final opponents should they overcome their Galway opponents the day previous.
