Wexford footballer picks up Sportsman of the Year title at Black and Irish awards

The national ‘Black and Irish’ awards took place on Saturday, December 7th…

Two Wexford natives were in the running for awards. Two proud Wexford natives, Mick Abidoye, owner of Created in Éire, and Festy Ebosele, Irish international footballer, were nominated for the prestigious 2024 Black and Irish Awards.

One Wexford man, Festy Ebosele, claimed the title for the “Sportsman of the Year” at the Black and Irish awards, held at the Dublin Royal Convention Centre on Saturday, December 7th, an event which was sponsored by RTÉ.

At the awards ceremony, he overcame Aidan Ighieon, Chiedozie Ogbene, Cormac Izuchukwu and Israel Olutande to claim the award.

He couldn’t attend the ceremony at the night, but the winning announcement was applauded and cheered on by those in attendance.

Festy has been a revelation for the Republic of Ireland’s Men Senior team this year under the new management team of Heimir Hallgrímsson.
