Wexford’s Festy Ebosele is on the move again…
For the last five months, Enniscorthy native Festy Ebosele was on loan with Watford Football Club, who play in the English Championship.
Just yesterday, Festy Ebosele issued a ‘Thank you’ post to the Watford FC fans for their unwavering support since his arrival at the club.
Ebosele, who played his underage football with Moyne Rangers in Enniscorthy town, was loaned out by his parent club, Udinese, who play in the Italian League.
Although he has been called back to Udinese, he may be on the move sooner rather than later, as it has been reported that there is interest from Basaksehir in Istanbul, who are eager to sign the player.
It is believed that the decision will remain on Festy’s doorstep though, according to a Turkish reporter. Sports Digitale’s Yağız Sabuncuoğlu wrote on X: “Başakşehir and Udinese reached an agreement for the transfer of Festy Ebosele. The player’s decision is awaited.”
Should Festy join the Turkish side, he may not be on the football field as soon as the club hoped though, after he picked up an injury in a previous game with Watford in the English Championship. After the game, Watford boss Tom Cleverley said: “Festy is not good news either, and one that we thought might not be so serious,” noting that he may not return to action for about 2-3 months.
If the injury is as serious as Cleverley made it, it would also rule Festy out of the squad for the upcoming Republic of Ireland matches.
