Wexford’s new static speed camera is in operation from today

The static speed camera installed in Wexford will be in operation from today…

The Static Speed Safety Cameras in place on the R772 Ask, Gorey, Co. Wexford.

The static speed camera is located near Green’s Berry Farm on the Arklow Road, just outside of Gorey town in North Wexford.

Although it was installed six months ago in December 2024, it will only commence its operation from Friday 02 May 2025 at 12, midday.

Signage on the roads indicate that the speed limit for this area is 100km/h.

Vehicles detected driving in excess of the posted speed limit will be subject to prosecution from 12 midday Friday 02 May 2025.

Prosecution of speeding offences takes place by Fixed Charge Notice. The current Fixed Charge Notice is a €160 fine accompanied by 3 penalty points.

Nine static speed cameras were set up across the country during its initial roll-out. Previous reports have highlighted that each static speed camera cost €33,500 to install.
