Wexford pub commits to no price hikes for Fleadh Cheoil

A Wexford pub has committed to not raising their prices for the upcoming Fleadh Cheoil…

The Fleadh Cheoil returns to Wexford this Sunday (August 3rd) and will last for the whole week until August 11th. Similar to last year, flocks of crowds – upwards of 700,000 people – are set to head to Wexford for the 2025 Fleadh Cheoil.

One pub – Culleton’s of Whitemill – have committed to not raising their prices, despite the increased demand and despite the easy opportunity to increase their revenue. Culleton’s have committed to not raising the prices in their bar and in their adjoining off-license.

Bar manager, Eddie Carthy, also set the same trend last year, condemning publicans who were charging upwards of €8 for a pint of Guinness. For revellers at the traditional Irish music festival, the price hikes of alcohol was one of the criticisms of last year’s festival.

Eddie Carthy’s recent announcement on Tuesday is sure to delight many people heading to the Fleadh Cheoil in Wexford for 2025.

There are calls for other publicans within the town to follow the same trend as Culletons.

Another Wexford town pub, McGees Pub, will also not be hiking up their prices for the upcoming Fleadh Cheoil and as one can expect, they will be having live trad sessions all-week long inside their premises.

Since the publication of this article, another Wexford town bar – The Swan Bar – confirmed to Wexford Weekly that they will not be increasing their alcohol prices for the 2025 Fleadh too:

“I can guarantee that The Swan Bar are not hiking up any prices either. We didn’t last year and are not doing anything like that this year,” the owners told Wexford Weekly.
