The Leinster Hurling Championship is only around the corner…
Wexford narrowly missed out on promotion from the Allianz Hurling League (1B), but there’s no doubt that the team had one eye on the upcoming Leinster Hurling Championship throughout that campaign too. Former Wexford hurlers Des Mythen and Adrian Fenlon recently spoke about how they are remaining hopeful for the Wexford Senior Hurlers, as they were evidently improving throughout the Allianz League.
In attack, Rory O’Connor’s loss has been significantly felt — but at the same time, it has afforded opportunites to other players such as Simon Roche, Jack Redmond, and Tucker Kinsella, who all enjoyed good spells with the Purple and Gold in 2026 to date.
The Leinster Championship is completely different than the League though.
Recently, the odds were releasd by major bookmakers ahead of the 2026 Leinster Hurling Championship. Originally, the bookmakers could only see one clear winner, despite many arguing that this year’s championship feels as open as ever. Kilkenny have been priced out from 5/6 to 7/5, with Galway now leading the betting.
Wexford last won the Leinster Senior Hurling Championship in 2019 — and despite the fact their panel is somewhat depleted this year, they’ll be hoping for a good run in the provincial competition.
