[Report] Wexford Senior Hurlers Could Lose One Of Their Coaches To Waterford GAA

On Monday evening, Waterford GAA confirmed the appointment of Liam Cahill as their new Senior Hurling manager…

Pauric Fanning, who took over from Derek McGrath in 2018, worked with Davy Fitzgerald during his infancy at Wexford, and it’s now looking like another one of Davy’s backroom team could be on the move to the Déise.

Cahill, who will replace Pauric Fanning at the helm, has yet to confirm his backroom team for his first step into senior inter-county management.

However, according to reports from KCLR and Irish Independent’s John Fogarty, former Waterford star Stephen Molumphy will likely take up a role in his native county as a coach in Cahill’s backroom team.

Molumphy joined Fitzgerald’s backroom team last Novemeber, and he enjoyed success with the Yellowbellies set-up during his first year involvement, overseeing the Model County lift the Bob O’Keeffe Cup for the first time since 2004.

Confirmation of the news would be a blow to the Wexford hurlers, and it would likely mean that Wexford hurling manager Fitzgerald would seek another member to add to his backroom staff alongside Saoirse Bulfin, JJ Doyle, Keith Rossitter and Mags D’arcy to name just a few.
