A popular Wexford pub has announced that it will be closing its doors..
T Morris’, a popular Wexford pub based in Wexford town and the accompanying restaurant called The Yard Restaurant, announced yesterday evening that they will be closing their doors.
The news comes after the hospitality sector has suffered greatly due to the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic, which forced pubs and restaurants to close — or to operate at a much smaller capacity for the previous six months.
Speaking yesterday evening on the matter, owner Michael Tierney stated that:
“It is with deep regret that The Yard Restaurant and T Morris Pub will not be reopening. The instability caused by the Covid-19 pandemic and subsequent lockdown closures have led to a huge financial strain on both businesses. We have done everything in our power behind the scenes to try and continue trading but this was not possible.”
Here’s hoping that this trend will not continue over the coming weeks and months.
