Wexford Senior Hurler Takes Break From Set Up To Go Travelling

One member of the previous Wexford Senior hurling team has opted out of the team…

The new Wexford Senior hurling manager, Darragh Egan, will be preparing for the upcoming Walsh Cup and Allianz League games without one member of the previous panel.

St Martins clubman, Joe O’Connor, has opted out of Darragh Egan’s Senior Hurling team as the new season approaches.

O’Connor, who works as a post-primary school teacher, has decided to take a break from the Wexford Senior hurling set-up as he travels around the world.

O’Connor had battled his way onto the starting fifteen in the latter end of Davy Fitzgerald’s tenure, and he will be a loss to the Purple and Gold and Egan’s set-up.

Other than that, no other member has dropped off the panel.

In previous seasons, both Paudie Foley and Dee O’Keeffe have taken breaks from the Wexford Senior hurling set-up.

While Wexford followers will be disappointed with the loss of O’Connor, not one person would begrudge him the opportunity to travel the world.

The fact that Crossabeg/Ballymurn clubman Paudie Foley has re-joined the panel will also lessen the blow for Wexford hurling fans.

Meanwhile, Egan has confirmed that he has also brought in another person to the side’s backroom team. Along with Willie Cleary and Dublin’s Niall Corcoran, Egan has now brought in a new goalkeeping coach.
