This Is Ferns’ Route To Leinster Senior Club Championship Glory

The last thing on Ferns’ mind now is the AIB Leinster Senior hurling club championship…

But, once their long over-due celebrations end, their attention will turn to that championship. Although they have just won their first title in their club’s history, Ferns will be looking ahead to the Leinster club championship with eagerness.

The first game of the Leinster Senior Hurling Club championship is pencilled in to take place on the weekend of 12/13 of November, as per the fixture schedule on Leinster GAA.

Here, in this article, we go through their route to the Leinster Senior hurling club final.

After beating St Martins in the Wexford Senior Championship final, Ferns will now move on to play the Carlow champions (St Mullins) in the quarter-final of the Leinster championship.

St Mullins have won the Carlow Championship a record 28 times and they’ll be a force to be reckoned with in the championship. Despite that, after their resilient performance in the Wexford Senior hurling final, Ferns St-Aidans will still fancy their chances in the game.

Should they defeat the Carlow Senior champions, Ferns will then move into the semi-finals where they’ll face the winner of the Laois Champions versus the Dublin champions. At the time of writing, the Laois and Dublin Senior club champions have not yet been confirmed as their hurling championships are still underway.

In the final then, they’ll face either (Kildare/Offaly) or (Kilkenny/Westmeath), depending on the results from the other quarter-finals and resulting semi-final.

The strength and depth of Pat Bennett’s Ferns team was showcased throughout the championship. If Ferns are to go far in the Leinster hurling championship, that will need to be on show once again. The ground will be heavier, it’ll be harder to play, and it’ll be a true test of their panel.
