It won’t be long now until the Allianz League returns…
Unlike the Wexford Senior hurlers, who’s Allianz Hurling fixtures were also released today, the Wexford Senior footballers will have their sights set on this year’s Allianz National Football League campaign.
The Wexford Senior Footballers currently play in Division 4 of the National Football League.
While a run in the Leinster championship is always nice, the Wexford Senior footballers have placed a lot of effort in to the National Football Leagues in recent years.
With new manager, John Hegarty, now at the helm, one cannot imagine a huge change of desire in that regard. Promotion to Division 3 would improve the standard and outlook of Wexford football and it is no doubt on the agenda.
Wexford will have four home games in the NFL. They’ll take on London, Leitrim, Wicklow and Carlow all at home. Notably, Wexford will take on London in the opening game, which is scheduled for 7pm at Wexford Park meaning that this game will take place under the new lights at the stadium.
They’ll face a stiff test, however, when they travel to Laois and Sligo away in particular. There are no easy games in this division, and on their day, anyone could beat anyone, illustrating the difficulty in gaining promotion to Division 3.
