Wexford hurler doing ’60 day challenge’ to raise funds for Dillon Quirke Foundation and Pieta

A Wexford hurler is attempting to raise vital funds for charity…

Wexford hurler, Conor McDonald, is raising funds for charity by undergoing a ’60 day challenge’.

Speaking to Wexford Weekly, McDonald discussed the upcoming challenge:

“For every one follower I get, I’ll be doing 15 seconds of hurling up against the wall. If I get four followers in one day, then I will be hurling up against the wall for one minute. That’s just to create awareness, to engage people, and to get kids and other people on board. They can send in their videos and that’ll build awareness. That’ll engage people and then donations will hopefully follow for doing the challenge,” he told Wexford Weekly.

If you’re not following McDonald on Instagram, make sure to drop him a follow to get him up hurling against the wall as much as possible which will importantly build awareness for the fundraising drive.

The charities that McDonald is raising money for include the Dillon Quirke Foundation and Pieta.

The Dillon Quirke Foundation was set up in honour of our beloved Dillon who collapsed during a hurling match and died of SADS on the 5th of August 2022. The Foundation’s aim is to raise awareness and reduce the number of young people dying from SADS through a cardiac screening programme.

Meanwhile, Pieta provides free, therapeutic approach to people who are in suicidal distress, engage in self-harm, or bereaved by suicide. Their services are 24/7.

Conor has set himself a fundraising goal of 10,000 euro. To donate and support Conor, you can donate online via the iDonate platform, which is linked here.
