Cyril Farrell predicts winner of Wexford and Waterford Allianz Hurling League match

Wexford will take on Waterford today…

Both teams will be seeking a win. Wexford are on three points having drawn in their previous three games, while Waterford are on two points. A win would likely see either team secure Division 1 status for next year’s Allianz Hurling League campaign.

Speaking to Waterford radio station WLRFM, hurling pundit Cyril Farrell predicted the winner of the match:

“They’re going well. Rossiter would know the scene well along with the lads with him. Fanning is back in goals, Conor Foley playing right good stuff, Reck is going very well centre back, Murphy and Ryan their two new corner backs, Byrne Dunbar does a lot of work along with Hearne and Foley. O’Connor will be on,” Farrell started.

“Inside you’ll have Seamus taking the frees. Richie Lawlor inside with him and Cian Byrne. They’re playing a good hard brand of hurling. They have to play high the whole time. There’s no way they’re able to play and just tip along and take their scores. They have to burst it everywhere. If Waterford start well, it’ll be more than half the battle against Wexford.”

“I think Waterford (will win). If the likes of Jamie Barron and these guys are on, they’ll have enough to win. They’ll have a few more subs to come on then and they’ll finish strong. Even though they’ve been beaten in two of the matches, they’ve put up enough scores to win. That’s with a team that’s lacking with some of the main players, but bit by bit they’re coming back. I think that with the home advantage will swing it for them on Sunday,” he said.

Farrell is not the only person who thinks Waterford will win this one. The major bookmakers also have Wexford as 15/8 outsiders to secure a win.
