Young Wexford man picks up Hurler of the Year award with university

A young Wexford man picked up an individual honour recently…

Wexford man Calum Corcoran attended the SETU GAA awards on Tuesday evening.

Corcoran picked up the Hurler of the Year award from the Carlow college.

Laois legend and SETU manager, Cheddar Plunkett, presented Calum with the award.

In 2023, Calum started as wing-back on the SETU Freshers team, a team which was victorious in the Division 2 Freshers final against Ulster University.

Although he is only in his second-year of college, the Faythe Harriers clubman then quickly made his way onto the Fitzgibbon Cup starting team, a team which encompasses all year groups at university level.

Throughout the Fitzgibbon Cup campaign, Corcoran excelled in the corner-back position for his university. Despite his best efforts, Corcoran and his SETU team-mates lost out the quarter-final of the Fitzgibbon Cup in 2024 to SETU Waterford.
