Wexford local to run for European Parliament in Ireland South

Christopher Doyle is an MEP candidate for the Ireland South constituency…

Christopher is an engineer by profession and comes from a farming background. Christopher is the current custodian of the family farm on the southeast corner of Wexford, where he lives with his family. He works as an engineering and management consultant mostly in dispute resolution.

Christopher has studied at 3rd level in Ireland, the UK, Spain and Germany. He has worked in the power generation sector worldwide and other international engineering industries in Ireland, the US, the UK, Europe, Africa, the Middle East and Asia.

Speaking to Wexford Weekly, Christopher explains that :

“I became interested in being an MEP so that I might play a role in helping to focus some high level thinking and action on how to best protect Europe’s, and by direct proxy, Ireland’s interests in meeting three fundamental challenges in the next five years. A strong Europe is good for Ireland. I wish to help make the European Union project work for all its members, including Ireland. It is my belief that the two wars on our periphery, particularly what is going on in Ukraine, pose the most serious threat to peace that Europe has seen since World War 2. I wish to work towards making Europe strong and able to stand on its own feet,” he said.

“It is my conviction that we face a range of global challenges to adapt to climate and environment crises the pace and likes of which we have never seen before. I wish to help manage and deliver the profound changes that are undoubtedly coming down the tracks.”

Christopher tells us that we are going to have to bring the discussions we already hear about Gaza, Ukraine and climate change to another level entirely. He believes our world is changing beyond our comfort zone and comprehension and that we have to get real about the world we now live in.

“Our politics has an enormous amount of catching up to do and we are scarcely scratching the surface of these challenges today,” he told Wexford Weekly.

It is Christopher’s conviction that electing experienced, well travelled and committed people to Europe makes sense for Ireland and is in Ireland’s best interests on June 7th 2024.
