Darragh Egan has landed himself a new managerial job…
The former Wexford Senior hurling manager is now managing a new GAA team, but it’s probably not as most expected – as he has landed himself a new role overseas.
Egan, aged just 38, was the principal of the Kiladangan National School, a mixed primary school in his native parish in Tipperary.
The Wexford Senior hurling team and Darragh Egan parted ways in 2023, with new manager and Oulart The Ballafh native Keith Rossiter stepping in to take the reigns of the Wexford Senior Hurling team.
Darragh Egan has since accepted a new role in Abu Dhabi.
Along with accepting a new role as principal in an Abu Dhabi school, the former Wexford Senior hurling manger is continuing to share his managerial skills abroad, as he is the new manager of the Abu Dhabi Na Fianna hurling team.
Abu Dhabi Na Fianna GAA Club, established in 1995, is the largest GAA club in the Middle East region. The club competes annually in the Middle East League and Championship competitions, which take place in a host of Middle Eastern countries.
Kiladangan actually called upon Egan in 2023 for him to play in goal for their Senior hurling team, with Egan stepping up to play a role as sub-keeper in their Senior hurling semi-final clash, slotting over one point from a free in the process, following the dismissal of Brian Hogan. That same year, Kiladangan defeated Thurles Sarsfields to win the Senior Hurling Championship in Tipperary.
