Paul Boyle achieved Connacht Rugby legendary status on Saturday gone by becoming a capped centurion for the province in a mighty demolition job on Italian club Zebre…
The Gorey man has become a stalwart of the Western club over many seasons now and became a fan favourite from the get go with typically rampageous displays down the years.
Known for his barnstorming gallops down the field, fantastic physicality in the tackle and fabulous link play with the backs, Boyle was up to hid usual tricks on Saturday night in Galway
Boyle produced a stunning display in defence and attack including one unbelievable first half trail blazer of a run up the middle, leaving defenders for dead on a crazy 35 odd metre run which lead to an amazing Connacht try.
He was on the score sheet in the second half with a real rugged pick and go, powering his way over from short range.
This try equalled the Connacht record for most tries ever scored by a forward. Was he going to get the cherry on top on the night and break the record? We shall see.
Next, the Gorey man was legging down the right wing out pacing a first centre to tie in the 13 and set Shay Mullins in for the winger to score his hattrick on debut
He certainly was going to break the record. A slick move down the left wing left Paul on his own with acres of space to skip past the last defender and become Connacht all time forwards try scoring machine.
He sits on top with a unbelievable 24 tries for Connacht Rugby with many years to come.
What a absolute Connacht Rugby legend and proud Wexford man.
