Three Wexford community projects have received funding after submitting successful applications…

€241,996 funding has been secured for three community projects which will help upgrade facilities and benefit users of all ages. In total, €14 million was allocated for 163 community projects across Ireland.

The three Wexford community projects which have received funding are:

Meals on Wheels, Gorey – €50,000 towards an electric vehicle.

Camross Hall CLG – €90,000 – upgrades to Camross Hall.

St. John’s Volunteers GAA Pitch – €101,996 – pitch drainage project.

Wexford native and new Fine Gael Senator, Cathal Byrne, stated:

“It’s fantastic to see continued investment in our sports clubs, community centres, parks, walking trails and play spaces through the Community Recognition Fund.

“The Community Recognition Fund was introduced to support towns and villages who have welcomed new arrivals, to help them upgrade facilities that will be used by everyone in the community.”

“I want to congratulate the community groups who have been the driving force behind the successful applications and look forward to seeing the completed projects.”

“I would also like to let community groups know that the closing date for the next phase of applications from local authorities has been extended to February 28th, if they wish to apply, and successful projects will be announced in the coming months,” he said.

The funding announced today by the Department of Rural and Community Development builds. Wexford County Council noted that more funding for additional projects will be announced later in 2025.
