There were Wexford winners at the Junk Kouture awards last night…
The awards night, hosted by both Ed Roche and Elanor Fitzgerald, took place at the Helix Theatre in Dublin on Wednesday.
The teams were from secondary schools around the country and they showcased their sustainable and innovative creations alongside 50 other finalists from the UK, US, Italy, France and the UAE.
Each Junk Kouture team had created a couture design made entirely of recycled materials – from mussel shells to seat belts – and they were judged by a panel of experts on sustainability, fashion, education, and entertainment.
17 awards were up for grabs in total, with judges Stephen McLaughlin, Lise Pierron, and Maya Penn making the difficult decisions.
Both Stephanie O Connor and Sienna Howe from Coláiste Bride Secondary School in Enniscorthy won an award. Their Natural Allure Junk Kouture scooped the “Innovation Award” at Wednesday’s Junk Kouture World Final for 2024. The Coláiste Bríde schoolgirls were the only Wexford representatives from the 60 schools and groups in the running for awards at the ceremony.
