Two Wexford natives to star in Virgin Media One television show

Two Wexford natives will star in the new season of Virgin Media One’s Grá ar an Trá…

The brand new season of Grá ar an Trá kicks off on Monday 10th March at 9pm on Virgin Media Play and Virgin Media One, and runs every night through to Friday 14th March to celebrate Seachtain na Gaeilge.

Grá ar an Trá is an Irish dating show that follows twelve singletons as they return in a quest to find love and learn the Irish language.

The two Wexford natives who will participate on the new season are Sonia and Daniel.

Q&A with Sonia:

Name: Sonia

Age: 21

Home county: Wexford

Occupation: Health Advisor & Social Media Ambassador

Q: What do you have a grá for in life?

A: Running, traveling, mostly spending time in the outdoors in forests and beaches.

Q: Tell us something not many people know about you.

A: I’m half Estonian and I speak 5 languages (English, Irish, Spanish, French and Russian)

Q: Describe your perfect partner.

A: Tall, funny, kind, ambitious, outgoing, adventurous and wants to travel!

Q: What do you think is the biggest red flag?

A: Someone who sits at the dinner table with their phone propped up against the salt watching a YouTube video or Netflix. Andddd skinny jeans!!!

Q: Where did you learn your Irish?

A: I went to an Irish-speaking secondary school. I also went to the Gaeltacht in Galway for a few weeks when I was 16.

Q: What is your favourite Irish phrase/word?

A: Smugairle róin (jellyfish)

Q&A with Daniel:

Name: Daniel

Age: 31

Home county: Wexford

Occupation: Business manager

Q: What do you have a grá for in life?

A: I absolutely love fashion, skincare and make-up!

Q: Tell us something not many people know about you.

A: I am adopted!

Q: Describe your perfect partner.

A: I thought my ideal partner would have muscles and big arms, but my ideal partner should be kind, open and show an interest in me as a person.

Q: What do you think is the biggest red flag?

A: Not showing interest in getting to know you.

Q: Why do you want to learn Irish now?

A: I stopped learning Irish from first year and didn’t make any effort to continue after that!

Q: Best/worst dating story?

A: The best date I went on was with a guy who brought me all over Dublin from walking around Phoenix Park, going to  the zoo, Blanchardstown for food and then dropping me back to my house in Wexford! He had loads of green flags! The worst was with the same guy who brought me to one of his gigs where he left me in a corner on my own for the night, without introducing me to anyone and after it was finished he went out for a smoke, forgot about me and went home! Can safely say I wasn’t interested after that….
