Historic oak tree in County Wexford blown down during bad weather

Met Éireann has issued a Status Orange rain warning for Wexford, along with Dublin and Wicklow, as significant rainfall accumulations are expected over the coming days.

The warning will be in place from 2:00pm on Friday, November 14th, will remain in place until 11:00am on Saturday, November 15th.

One local community in County Wexford has already seen some of the impact of the impending bad weather.

A historic Oak tree, located in Sean Doire in Gorey, has been blown down.

It has been reported that the Oak Tree – located in Walker’s Field where the Sean Doire housing estate is – has been standing for over 400 years.

Locals in the housing estate reported that historic three fell down at 1:36am on Friday morning.

It comes as Met Eireann issued a Status Orange warning for Wexford.

A Status Orange weather warning is the second-highest alert level issued by Met Éireann and indicates the potential for dangerous and disruptive conditions. Localised flooding, road closures, and delays to travel are all possible.
