Wexford’s South East Radio have appointed a new person to their prime-time slot…
The appointment comes following veteran broadcaster, Jimmy Ryan, announced his shock departure from South East Radio after an extraordinary 37-year career on the Wexford-based station.
In a brief public statement on Friday, Ryan, who was best known for his Drive Time show at 3-6pm, shared the news that he had been made redundant by the local radio station.
Over the years, he has also presented a variety of shows on Southeast Radio including ‘The Late Night Affair ‘, ‘The power FM’, ‘The Late Zone’, ‘Friday Night 80’s’, and ‘The Lunchtime Show.’
Since then, South East Radio have confirmed their new appointment to the prime-time radio slot. Wexford and Duncannon native Julie McCracken will present the station’s new drivetime show, ‘Feel Good Drive’, launching Monday 23 March at 3pm.
“Good times ahead, and thank you to everyone who continues to support me in doing what I love. Alongside the show, I’m really looking forward to leading the station’s local events and documentary production,” Julie said.
Managing Director Will Faulkner said the change comes after months of consultation:
“I’d like to thank Jimmy for his service to the station and we wish him the best in his next chapter. We are delighted to have a Wexford woman of Julie’s commitment, experience and talent to bring the programme to new heights. These changes also make room for a new crop of up-and-coming broadcasters in the county,” Will said in a statement.
Midlands 103, part of the Tindle Group, announced an agreement to acquire South East Radio one year ago in March 2026.
