Wexford’s odds to win Tailteann Cup revealed

The Wexford Senior Footballer enjoyed an impressive win away to Leitrim over the weekend…

After their recent 1-12-0-20 win away to Leitrim, Wexford now advance in the quarter-final stages of the Tailteann Cup.

The draw for the quarter-final was made this morning.

Wexford will take on Offaly (away) in the last eight. Being away from home, it’s a tough clash for the Wexford Senior Footballers, however, they have shown signs of improvement since their Leinster Championship campaign. At half-time against Leitrim, they had kept their opponents scoreless while continuing to utilise the 2-point arc.

While John Hegarty has stated that it’s “the toughest draw”, the view in Offaly is that Wexford is a “potential banana skin” for their Tailteann Cup dreams.

Although they were relegated, Offaly were competitive in Divison 2 of the National Football League for 2026, while Wexford were promoted from Division 3 — a back to back promotion to pin them amongst some of the counties’ best teams next year.

Even though it’s a tough encounter for Wexford, it’s one that they’ll be looking forward to. Prior to the competition, they made it clear that they hope to go far in the Tailteann Cup — and be competing for silverware now, considering they are a Division 2 team. To win the competition, they’ll have to beat the best, with the bookies viewing Offaly as second favourites just after 2024 Tailteann Cup winners, Down.

Quarter-finals:

Fermanagh v Sligo

Laois v Down

Offaly v Wexford

Antrim v Wicklow
