Status Yellow high temperature weather warning issued for Wexford

A Status Yellow High Temperature Warning remains in place for Wexford and the rest of Ireland as exceptionally warm conditions are expected to persist through much of the week…

According to Irish weather forecaster Met Éireann, maximum daytime temperatures are forecast to exceed 27°C, while overnight temperatures are expected to remain above 15°C, creating prolonged periods of heat both day and night.

The warning comes into effect at 12pm on Tuesday, 23 June 2026, and will remain valid until 9am on Friday, 26 June 2026.

Forecasters have highlighted several potential impacts associated with the spell of hot weather, including increased water safety risks as more people visit beaches, lakes and other recreational water locations.

The combination of high daytime temperatures and warm nights may also lead to uncomfortable sleeping conditions and an elevated risk of heat stress, particularly among vulnerable groups, outdoor workers and those engaging in strenuous activity.

Residents are being encouraged to stay hydrated, limit exposure to direct sunlight during the hottest parts of the day and check on elderly relatives, neighbours and others who may be more susceptible to the effects of prolonged heat.

The warning applies nationwide, with Wexford expected to experience some of the highest temperatures during the period.

Met Éireann continues to monitor the situation and advises the public to stay updated with the latest forecasts and weather warnings as conditions develop.
