It’s not the news that race-goers wanted…
The Wexford races, which was scheduled to take place tomorrow, Wednesday 27th March, has now been called off.
It is the second time that the race-meeting has been called off due to adverse weather conditions after the initial St Patrick’s Day event was also rained off.
As per a report on RTE, a further 16mm of rain since yesterday when the track was already found unfit for racing, the decision has been made to call off the meeting.
Speaking on the matter, Paul Moloney, IHRB Clerk of the Course at Wexford said:
“In the space of just four hours yesterday morning we had 15mm of rain which left us waterlogged and since then we’ve had a further 16mm on top of that.”
